Editorial Policy
Invest São Vicente is an independent research publication. This page explains how we produce, verify, update and correct everything we publish. And the role artificial intelligence plays in that process.
Our principles
Independent
No listings, no commissions, no broker incentives. We do not sell property or accept payment from agents, developers or banks.
Accurate
Every claim is anchored to a verifiable source or, where verification is incomplete, explicitly labelled as an estimate or research-in-progress.
Evidence based
We prefer primary documents. Notarial deeds, conservatória records, official statistics, central bank publications. Over secondary commentary.
Practical
Research is written for readers who actually deploy capital. Each piece names the decision it is meant to support.
Transparent
We disclose how each number was produced. Estimates are labelled as estimates. Opinions are labelled as opinions.
Long term focused
We frame São Vicente as a structural, long-duration market. We do not chase momentum or publish short-cycle price predictions.
Neutral
We treat optimistic and pessimistic evidence with the same scrutiny. The headline always reflects the weight of evidence, not the strength of feeling.
Locally informed
The platform is anchored on São Vicente. We walk the neighbourhoods, file the paperwork and operate rental units in the market we cover.
How every article is structured
Every research piece. Articles, neighbourhood guides, market reports. Follows the same skeleton, so readers always know where to find what they need.

How research is conducted
Each piece begins with the decision it is meant to support. A buyer's question, an operator's calculation, a tax filing. We then collect primary evidence: notarial deeds, Conservatória records, INE Cabo Verde and Banco de Cabo Verde publications, treaty texts, on-island interviews and our own operating data.
How information is verified
Every quantitative claim is traced to a source before publication. Where we cannot verify a figure, we say so and frame the discussion directionally rather than inventing precision. Legal references are checked against the current text of the relevant code.
How updates are handled
Every article carries a review date. We re-read evergreen research at least annually and refresh market pieces whenever new official data is released. Material updates change the version number; minor edits do not.
How corrections are made
Errors are corrected promptly and visibly. The correction is noted at the foot of the article, the "Last updated" date is changed, and significant corrections are summarised in the next newsletter. To report an error, contact us.
Facts, estimates and opinions
Fact
A claim anchored to a verifiable primary source, cited inline. Example: the CVE–EUR peg at 110.265.
Estimate
A figure produced from incomplete data, expert judgement or modelled assumptions. Always labelled with an Estimate tag and accompanied by the method.
Opinion
An editorial view based on the evidence presented. Marked clearly in the text and never substituted for fact in headlines or summaries.
When an exact figure is unavailable, we explain why instead of inventing data. Research-in-progress sections are kept visible so readers can see what we are still working on.
The role of AI
We use artificial intelligence as an editorial support tool. For drafting outlines, translating between our four working languages, summarising documents and stress-testing arguments. AI does not publish on this site. Every article is read, fact-checked, edited and approved by a human reviewer before it is published, and the reviewer is named in the article's trust panel.
We do not use AI to fabricate quotes, generate images of real people, or produce statistics that have no underlying source.
